what's the verdict on the time lapse to about 18 months later?
hmmmmmmm....
in some ways, TV is about familiarity, look at The Sopranos, there were huge gaps between seasons, sometimes 2 years or more, yet it was fairly linear... i'm trying to remember but can't remember between each season...

in some ways, I wanted it to pick up right where we left it, to see how the choices these characters made were impacting them.

since we're just getting to know the characters, it's not too upsetting but if we were really in deep w them, it might be.

I thought it was a great season premiere ep, kinda makes me sad that Don Draper, once virile and invincible, is now a bit of a wash up and ... a dinosaur? I'm not sure about that choice. I think DD is too cool for that. He's certainly too good at his job. He's in the prime of his career, they don't throw you over for young people when you're climbing the ladder in your prime, except maybe in Hollywood. Would've been more interesting to see this alpha male making a new career move or outsmarting the new kids on the block or something... as far as I can recall, they never took Tony's power away, he always had it. I dunno. I have mixed feelings about it. Thoughts? But I love the show.
